No fewer than 100 residents from communities in Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State received free medical services and food support on Friday during a community outreach held in Ipetumodu.
The programme was organised by friends of the Deputy Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Mr Akinyode Oyewusi, to mark his birthday. Beneficiaries were offered medical consultations, malaria and Hepatitis B tests, medications, eye checks and free glasses.
At the town hall venue, Mr Oyewusi was represented by his wife, Mrs Adeola Oyewusi, who told participants that the intervention was targeted at vulnerable and elderly residents across the local government. She said the lawmaker would continue to prioritise welfare and representation for people in the constituency.
Speaking during the event, Mrs Oyewusi said, “Today, 100 people among us will benefit from free medical outreach and distribution of free food to our people in this local government. Our people will be screened or the hepatitis B, malaria, free eye screening and free glasses. It part of the celebrations of the birthday of the Deputy Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly.”
She also used the opportunity to make a political appeal ahead of the next governorship poll in the state. “At the same time, I urge you to continue standing together and to vote en masse for our able Governor, His Excellency Gov. Ademola Adeleke, on August 15, 2026.
“Your collective voice and active participation are crucial in ensuring continuity, development, and the advancement of our communities,” Mrs. Oyewusi said.
A beneficiary, Mr Olakunle Fajinmi, said residents appreciated the intervention, especially the healthcare support and food distribution.
He said, “On behalf of the beneficiaries, I want to express gratitude to the organisers for the exercise, especially for the free glasses and foodstuffs donated to us.”
The outreach follows earlier welfare support in the constituency. On December 31, 2025, residents in Ife North State Constituency received food items, electronics and cash donations from Mr Oyewusi. According to details released at the time, the package included about 120 chickens, 130 bags of rice and cash support worth about N5 million.
The deputy speaker also said the recent donation built on a previous empowerment programme where beneficiaries received 30 Bajaj motorcycles, 20 deep freezers, 20 3.5KVA generators, 32-inch television sets, washing machines, sewing machines, grinding machines and inverter fans.
