A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Abdulrahman Haske, has called for unity and internal fairness after Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
Haske said the governor’s entry into the ruling party marks a major political development in the state and should be managed with cooperation rather than conflict. He described the moment as an opening for broader collaboration on Adamawa’s development agenda.
According to him, both old and new members must approach the transition with maturity, strategic inclusion and respect for party structures already built across wards and local government areas.
He said long-standing stakeholders and aspirants who sustained the APC through earlier political cycles should not be sidelined as the party expands. Their commitment, he said, remains central to the party’s organisation and should be recognised in future decisions.
Haske said growth in membership should be matched by transparent internal processes, merit-based opportunities and continuous dialogue among stakeholders. He added that inclusion should be used to harmonise new alignments with established loyalty, not to erase existing contributions.
The APC figure urged members to stay calm and avoid steps that could trigger avoidable tension. He said the transition should strengthen the party and improve its electoral readiness, not create fresh divisions.
Governor Fintiri’s reported move from the PDP to the APC has already shifted political calculations in Adamawa, where party control and candidate positioning are likely to be re-evaluated ahead of future contests. Haske’s intervention appears aimed at preventing intra-party friction as new alliances settle.
He maintained that successful integration will depend on discipline from all sides and a clear process that balances continuity with expansion. In his view, party cohesion can only be sustained when both legacy members and new entrants see fairness in appointments, consultations and political opportunities.
Haske said the immediate priority is constructive engagement. He argued that if managed properly, the development could produce a stronger and more competitive APC structure in Adamawa while keeping focus on governance outcomes for residents.
