Akogate Group and Canaan Land Golf and Country Club in Koko, Delta State, have finalised plans for a one-day golf programme for children on March 8, 2026, organisers said.

Chief Executive Officer of Akogate Group, Hon. Felix Aganbi, said 50 children are expected to take part in the training, which will start at 7:00 am. He said the initiative is designed to introduce more young people to golf in a structured setting while helping them build discipline and confidence.

Aganbi said the event is expected to draw local and foreign golf scouts, alongside officials, fans, and both professional and amateur players. According to him, the presence of different stakeholders is intended to give participating children and their parents a respectful, high-quality experience throughout the day.

In a statement, Canaan Land Golf and Country Club said the programme is being organised to coincide with International Women’s Day. The club said children, parents, and members will use the event to mark women’s social, cultural, economic, and political achievements, while also calling for change and raising awareness against bias.

The organisers said the training for young people is expected to promote positive youth development through sport. They said the programme aims to help participants build self-worth and resilience, and to learn values such as honesty, accountability, and justice.

The club added that children, mothers, husbands, and other attendees are looking forward to the training and tournament as a chance to improve performance through physical conditioning, technical skill development, and specialised practice aids.

Aganbi listed key focus areas for participants, including grip, posture, alignment, chipping, and putting. He also pointed to strategic thinking, flexibility, mobility, core strength, and power as important parts of the training curriculum.

He said the organisers have the required physical facilities and the human and material resources needed to run the programme successfully in Koko.
