Amstel Malta has appointed Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala as its new brand ambassador, in a partnership the company says reflects discipline, consistency and top-level performance.

The announcement was made in March, a period globally associated with conversations around women’s achievement. By naming Oshoala, the brand positions its “Be Your Best” message around a figure whose career has been built on preparation, repeat excellence and resilience under pressure.

Oshoala, popularly called “Agba Baller” by fans, remains one of Africa’s most decorated female footballers. Her honours include six African Women’s Footballer of the Year awards and a UEFA Women’s Champions League title, milestones that have made her one of Nigeria’s most recognised sporting exports.

From her early years in Lagos to success on the world stage, Oshoala’s trajectory has become a reference point for younger athletes across the country. Amstel Malta said those values align with what it wants consumers to associate with the brand.

Senior Brand Manager for Amstel Malta and Hi-Malt at Nigerian Breweries Plc, Francs Obiajulu, said the company sees Oshoala as a natural fit for its positioning.

“Asisat Oshoala embodies the essence of what Amstel Malta stands for. Her achievements are the result of years of discipline, resilience, and belief in her journey,” Obiajulu said.

He added that the endorsement reflects confidence in Oshoala as a national symbol of strong character and premium quality.

The deal adds another major commercial partnership to Oshoala’s profile and signals continued corporate interest in women’s sports in Nigeria. Industry observers say such moves can deepen visibility for female athletes, widen sponsorship opportunities and strengthen long-term investment in the women’s game.

For Amstel Malta, the partnership is expected to support campaigns tied to aspiration and personal excellence. For Oshoala, it extends her influence beyond football and reinforces her role as both a sporting icon and a public figure with broad appeal across different audiences in Nigeria.
