ITREALMS Media Group has announced that the 2026 Nigeria DigitalSENSE Forum will hold on Thursday, 11 June, at Welcome Centre Hotels in Ikeja, Lagos, with discussions centred on internet governance and national digital development.
Organisers said this year’s event will run under the theme, “Sustaining WSIS Vision with Multistakeholder Synergy in Nigeria,” and will gather policymakers, technology professionals, regulators and civil society actors. The forum is positioned as a meeting point for decisions on how Nigeria can widen access to digital opportunities while improving safety and resilience across online platforms.
According to ITREALMS Media, the 2026 edition aligns with United Nations General Assembly Resolution A/RES/80/173, which reaffirmed the World Summit on the Information Society vision. The group said the implication for Nigeria is clear: improve nationwide connectivity, make digital services more affordable, and increase investment in Digital Public Infrastructure so more citizens can participate in the economy.
Remmy Nweke, Group Executive Editor and Lead Consulting Strategist at ITREALMS Media, said the country must pair expansion with stronger protections. He said an inclusive and open digital space should also remain secure, especially for children and other vulnerable users, while withstanding fast-changing global cyber risks.
Nweke said the forum is expected to drive practical cooperation among government institutions, private sector operators, technical bodies and advocacy groups. He said that collaboration is essential if Nigeria is to move from policy talk to implementation in internet governance, online safety and trusted digital services.
The organisers listed several focus areas for the event, including wider IPv6 adoption, stronger Domain Name System security, and the next phase of Digital Public Infrastructure deployment. The agenda also includes dedicated discussions on child online protection and the role of satellite and telecommunications systems in delivering the broader Smart Nigeria ambition.
ITREALMS Media said long-running institutional collaboration will continue at the 2026 forum, citing engagement with the Nigerian Communications Commission, the National Information Technology Development Agency, and the Association of Licensed Telecoms Operators of Nigeria. The event is also expected to feature a keynote on sustaining WSIS outcomes through telecommunications and multistakeholder coordination for Nigeria’s digital future.
DigitalSENSE Africa, which hosts the forum and is recognised as an ICANN-certified At-Large Structure, said the gathering has consistently promoted public debate on the economic and technical value of internet governance. Organisers added that journalists, industry stakeholders and members of the public are invited to participate in shaping decisions that affect Nigeria’s digital sovereignty and long-term competitiveness.
