Former House of Representatives member Dapo Lam-Adesina has praised the conduct of the Oyo State APC congress and congratulated Moses Adeyemo on his emergence as state chairman.

In a statement issued through his media office on Thursday, Lam-Adesina said the peaceful outcome across wards, local government areas and the state level showed that the All Progressives Congress in Oyo is preparing seriously for the next election cycle.

Adeyemo, a former deputy governor of Oyo State, was elected chairman on Tuesday. He is from Igboho in Oorelope Local Government Area and served under late Governor Abiola Ajimobi between 2011 and 2019.

Lam-Adesina described Adeyemo as a unifying figure and said the consensus process that produced him reflected internal unity in the party.

According to him, that unity is important as the APC seeks to strengthen its position ahead of 2027 political contests. He said the new chairman’s political and administrative experience would help the party’s structure and improve mobilisation at state level.

“Congratulations to our dear father and the new chairman of the APC in Oyo state. His emergence is, without doubt, the dawn of a new era for the party. He’s bringing his years of political and administrative experience to lead the party to victory next year,” Lam-Adesina said.

He added, “This is the time for us to take the state back from the opposition, and we are ready to do that with the new chairman and his executives in front of us.”

The development comes as the APC continues with its nationwide timetable for congresses and convention activities. Under the adjusted 2026 schedule signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, appeals arising from the congresses were set to be heard on Wednesday, March 4.

The schedule also fixed purchase and submission of forms for zonal congresses and the national convention from Thursday, March 13, to Monday, March 16.

In addition, the party listed Monday, March 23, for the inauguration of zonal congress screening and screening appeal committees, as well as related appeal processes linked to the wider convention cycle.

For Oyo APC stakeholders, the immediate test will be whether the post-congress unity narrative can be sustained through the next stages of party organisation and into broader electoral strategy.
