Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has congratulated senior lawyer and former Nigerian Bar Association president, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), after his ranking as a Senior Statesman in Dispute Resolution in the Chambers and Partners Global 2026 listings.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, the governor said the recognition reflects Olanipekun’s standing within the legal profession and reinforces his place among widely respected jurists.
Oyebanji said the latest honour brings credit to Nigeria and Africa, adding that Olanipekun’s career has been defined by contributions to legal scholarship, jurisprudence and defence of the rule of law.
He said the Ekiti legal icon has over the years built a record associated with principled advocacy and constitutional values. According to the governor, the new ranking is another milestone in a career already marked by major accomplishments at the Bar.
The governor recalled that Olanipekun was admitted to the Inner Bar as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria at age 39 in 1991, and later served in top legal leadership roles, including President of the Nigerian Bar Association and Chairman of the Body of Benchers.
He also referenced Olanipekun’s influence within Egbe Amofin and the wider legal community, saying his work has inspired younger lawyers across the country.
Oyebanji said Ekiti people are proud of the recognition and described it as further proof that consistent excellence and service are rewarded on the global stage. He added that Olanipekun’s achievements continue to strengthen the profile of Ekiti professionals in national and international institutions.
The statement framed the honour as both personal and symbolic: personal for the senior advocate’s long career, and symbolic for a legal tradition in Nigeria that seeks global relevance through merit and professional integrity.
Public officials, legal practitioners and associates have continued to acknowledge the ranking as a significant moment for the Nigerian legal profession, especially in dispute resolution practice where international listings often influence cross-border legal confidence and reputation.
