The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr Dennis Otuaro, has congratulated the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on her visit to Delta State, describing it as an important moment for the state and for peace efforts in the Niger Delta.
In a statement issued after the one-day engagement, Otuaro said the visit came at a critical time and would encourage stakeholders and beneficiaries of the amnesty programme. He said many in the region see the visit as a strong signal of federal attention to the social and development needs of communities in the Niger Delta.
Otuaro linked the visit to the broader objective of sustaining peace, security and economic progress in the oil-producing region. He said confidence-building actions from national leaders matter in a part of the country where government programmes are closely watched for impact and continuity.
According to him, the First Lady represents national unity and social inclusion, themes he said align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu. He noted that the Presidential Amnesty Programme remains focused on stability and reintegration outcomes, and said symbolic visits by senior public officials can strengthen trust between government institutions and local communities.
He also commended the work being done through the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative. Otuaro said the intervention has shown practical concern for vulnerable Nigerians through support, empowerment and welfare outreach in different states.
“The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator (Chief) Oluremi Tinubu, CON, is a kind, empathic leader, and it takes a generous heart to be able to do the good things Her Excellency is doing to uplift humanity through her Renewed Hope Initiative,” he said.
He added that the project could leave a lasting legacy because of its direct social impact on people in need. He said communities in Delta and across the wider Niger Delta are likely to remember the visit as a meaningful event tied to both policy and public support.
Otuaro further argued that the First Lady’s intervention supports development efforts already being pursued by the Delta State Government under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda. He said the two tracks, federal social outreach and state-level development planning, can work together to improve daily life for residents.
For many observers in the region, the visit was seen not only as a ceremonial stop, but also as a public message that welfare, peacebuilding and community development remain on the policy table. Otuaro said that with sustained follow-through, such engagements can help deepen social confidence and strengthen long-term stability in the Niger Delta.
