Prince Ekunola Gbenga Abraham, Founder of the PEGA Foundation, was honoured by The Exceptional Alaga in Lagos on Wednesday, where he dedicated the recognition to his mother and called on cultural leaders to uphold family values.
The ceremony brought together cultural figures, professionals and social advocates, with speakers highlighting the role of community institutions in nation-building. Organisers said the award recognised Abraham’s service through humanitarian work, public engagement and support for social values.
In his acceptance remarks, Abraham said the honour reflected the moral training he received from his mother, Madam Amoke Ekunola. He described her as the foundation of his values and said her guidance shaped his discipline and commitment to service.
Addressing members of the Alaga community at the event, he said their role goes beyond event coordination and public speaking. Abraham said they are custodians of culture who influence young families at formative moments and should mirror the patience, respect and unity they preach.
“You are more than just masters of ceremony, you are moral guides to new couples and the keepers of our cultural heritage,” he said.
“Like ministers of faith who preach love and unity, you must embody the very values of patience and mutual respect in your own homes that you advocate for on the podium. Excellence in service must begin with integrity in our personal lives,” he added.
Guests at the event also pointed to Abraham’s work in security communication and grassroots mobilisation. Beyond his foundation role, he serves as a senior officer in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and is known as a publicist focused on timely and accurate reporting.
Abraham, a trained political scientist and security expert, has built a profile in Lagos and Ogun through public safety advocacy and local engagement. His foundation’s programmes include medical support for vulnerable people, rehabilitation support in correctional facilities, social mobilisation, and skills development initiatives.
The organisation also promotes campaigns against social vices and supports value-based family and community development. Speakers said the latest recognition adds to earlier honours tied to his contributions to cultural preservation and social responsibility.
For participants, the Lagos event reinforced a central message: strengthening Nigerian families and communities requires leadership that aligns public influence with private integrity.
