Nigerian retailer Purch has signed a partnership with MPLED to expand access to professional LED display systems for advertising, events and public communication across the country.
The agreement positions Purch as MPLED’s authorised distributor and partner in Nigeria and Africa for an initial five-year term, extending Purch’s operations beyond consumer electronics into professional display infrastructure.
Purch said the partnership is intended to close a persistent market gap between industrial-grade LED products and local businesses that need dependable digital display solutions. Through its retail footprint, the company plans to distribute MPLED’s outdoor signage and large-format screens to campaign teams, churches, event organisers, retailers and corporate clients.
At the signing event, Purch founder and Chief Executive Officer Iyke-Henry Nnadike said the company’s expansion follows years of building a customer base in electronics while seeking additional categories where practical technology could solve real commercial problems.
“From mobile phones, we expanded into electronics with the goal of making quality electrical appliances accessible to Nigerians,” Nnadike said.
“As we reviewed our product offerings, we began to look at areas where we could provide more solutions, especially in the media and advertising space.”
He said demand for indoor and outdoor digital display boards has increased in Nigeria, prompting the company to search for a manufacturing partner with recognised quality benchmarks.
“Our search for the right partner took almost a year,” he said. “We were deliberate about choosing a company that meets European standards because quality is non-negotiable for us.
We want to change the mindset around inferior products in the Nigerian market. We are focused on service and long-term value.”
The companies formally sealed the alliance by signing a certificate, launching MPLED’s outdoor LED products into the Nigerian market. Purch said the systems are built to be durable in local operating conditions and are structured for easier installation and maintenance.
The product range is expected to support several use cases, including political campaigns, religious programmes, concerts, sports events and business promotions. According to the companies, screen brightness and visual clarity are designed for long-distance visibility in outdoor settings.
MPLED General Manager Lisa Tan said the company sees strong growth potential in Nigeria and wider African markets, adding that both firms are aligned around product quality and customer satisfaction.
Tan said MPLED’s offerings in this partnership are energy-efficient and priced for a market that is expanding quickly as advertisers and organisations move from static boards to programmable digital formats.
Francis Osai, an officer at Purch, said the company maintained its focus on quality despite operating challenges and carried out an extended partner selection process before settling on MPLED.
He said the two firms entered the venture with full commitment, describing early response to the rollout as encouraging.
Industry observers say the deal reflects a wider trend in Nigeria’s urban media environment, where digital billboards are becoming more visible in high-traffic locations and event venues. Businesses are also increasing spend on dynamic visual campaigns that allow faster message updates and targeted scheduling.
For Purch, the partnership marks a strategic move into business-to-business technology services, a shift from its core identity as a consumer-facing electronics retailer. The company said this step supports its broader ambition to contribute to Nigeria’s digital transition by improving access to dependable display hardware.
Both companies said they expect the collaboration to raise standards in visual advertising and event production by giving local users wider access to quality systems backed by distribution and support within Nigeria.
