The Transportation Correspondents Association of Nigeria (TCAN) has announced plans for its 2026 Annual Transport Summit, scheduled for September in Lagos, with organisers saying the event will focus on using logistics to support economic growth.

In a statement issued at the weekend, TCAN said the summit will be held under the theme, “Unlocking Economic Growth Through Transportation Logistics.” The association said the forum is designed to bring together decision-makers and operators across Nigeria’s transport system at a time when reforms and infrastructure investment are reshaping the sector.

According to the group, expected participants include stakeholders in aviation, maritime, rail and road transport, along with logistics companies, policymakers, regulators, financial institutions, development partners and private-sector executives. TCAN said the broad representation is intended to ensure that practical issues affecting freight, passenger movement, and supply-chain performance are discussed from both policy and operational perspectives.

TCAN Chairman, Tola Adenubi, said transportation networks remain central to national prosperity and that logistics performance has a direct effect on competitiveness. He said the movement of cargo through airports and seaports, freight across inland routes, and last-mile delivery operations all influence the pace and cost of business activity in Nigeria.

Adenubi said discussions at the summit will cover digital adoption, infrastructure financing, public-private partnerships and regulatory reforms that can improve efficiency across the transport value chain. He said stronger logistics systems can help expand trade, support jobs and improve regional integration, especially as Nigeria seeks to deepen internal market linkages and raise non-oil productivity.

The Chairman of the 2026 Conference Committee, Suleiman Idris, said the programme will include keynote addresses, high-level panels and interactive sessions. He said participants will review the present condition of Nigeria’s transport logistics framework, identify bottlenecks affecting smooth cargo and passenger movement, and examine how better integration across transport modes can support economic expansion.

Idris also said the summit will spotlight investment opportunities in logistics and supply chain operations, while producing policy recommendations aimed at improving service delivery and raising Nigeria’s standing in global trade and transport competitiveness. He said dialogue at the forum is expected to address both immediate bottlenecks and longer-term planning priorities.

As part of activities for the summit, TCAN said it will present Champions of Transport Industry Development (COTID) certificates to government agencies and industry operators recognised for contributions to the transport sector.

Organisers said the annual summit has grown into an established platform for engagement between public institutions and private operators. They said the forum has continued to shape policy conversations and encourage transparency, collaboration and accountability within Nigeria’s transport industry.
