Unknown assailants have killed a 67-year-old retired teacher, Mr Abel Atilola, in Oyo State, in an incident that has triggered a police investigation. The victim was reportedly attacked near his farm along Irawo in Tede, within ATISBO Local Government Area. According to details gathered by DAILY POST, Atilola was ambushed on Monday and later confirmed dead. Sources said the retired teacher had gone to his farm when the attackers struck. Residents in the area said the matter was quickly reported to the police after news of the killing spread in the community. The Oyo State Police Command has acknowledged the incident and said detectives have already opened a case file. Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the development when contacted and stated that investigation into the murder is ongoing. In a brief message made available to DAILY POST on Thursday, Ayanlade said, "investigation into his murder has commenced". Security agencies are yet to publicly identify or arrest those responsible, while local residents continue to call for justice over the killing of the recently retired teacher.
