Minister of State Doris Uzoka-Anite said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to redeploy her to the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning shows confidence in her and in her ability to serve.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the minister said she accepted the new assignment with gratitude and a fresh commitment to government priorities. She said she remains focused on supporting the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and on delivering measurable results that affect Nigerians.

Uzoka-Anite described the move as another opportunity to contribute at the federal level. She said she was ā€œhonored and gratefulā€ for the president’s trust and for the chance to continue public service in a new portfolio.

Her latest posting follows another high-level redeployment in October 2024, when she moved to the Ministry of Finance from the Ministry of Trade and Investment. With this latest change, she has now served across three ministries in roughly three years, a development that underlines how frequently the administration has adjusted responsibilities among cabinet members.

The reshuffle also included a nomination involving Taiwo Oyedele, who chairs the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee. According to the report, he was nominated as minister of state while Uzoka-Anite was reassigned.

The latest cabinet movement comes at a period when economic planning, fiscal policy and revenue questions remain central in national policy discussions. The Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning plays a key role in aligning government spending plans with development targets and broader reform objectives.

By moving into that ministry, Uzoka-Anite now enters a portfolio closely tied to medium-term economic direction, implementation tracking and inter-ministerial coordination. Her public response signalled continuity with existing administration goals and a readiness to take on the new brief.

Her reassignment has also drawn attention because it marks another shift in her ministerial path within a short period. Even so, her statement framed the change as continuity rather than a reset, with emphasis on service delivery, policy support and accountability for outcomes.
